I have no complaints, whatsoever!!!
January 25th, 2011A decade ago, a good friend Luke Ryan, who was, at the time, Deacon Luke, one of my faithful and well-trusted deacons at Hope Community Church in Amherst, MA, while I served as Pastor there, left a phone message for me on my machine that said some man somewhere had reached a state of enlightenment by sincerely stating throughout each day, "Thank You God for EVERYTHING! I have no complaints, whatsoever!"
These words became his sole prayer, his only affirmation, and his immediate response to any and all things that occurred in his life experience. From the very moment Luke shared this with me, I took up this mantra as my own. And it has infiltrated my own life with the enlightenment of peace, joy and gratitude…for all things…the good, the bad, the ugly, the beautiful, the victories, the defeats, the dreams and wishes and hopes come true, and the dreams, hopes and wishes that never came into fruition.
The power of sincerely confessing this mantra, has increasingly led me into ever deepening gratitude for the great gift of being alive, in all moments of living. It has effectively short-circuited my previous erroneous belief that there are some things which are worthy of my gratitude, while there are other things which are not. More and more I find myself truly being able to accept, embrace, and be deeply grateful for…EVERY moment, EVERY one, EVERY experience, EVERY breath! Every opportunity has become an opportunity for me to rejoice and to be glad. My cup runs over. Goodness and mercy follow me. And I am persuaded that nothing shall ever be able to separate me from the love of God, Who resides in my own heart and mind.
I have shared this mantra with thousands of people over the years. And I will continue to do so.
Try it. You’ll like it!
